Bowling Bag Makeover!

Hello Friends! I'm excited to show you my bowling bag makeover! Cause, everyone needs a fancy shiny gold bowling bag for that rare event they go bowling once a year, right? If you gotta go, you might as well go in style!

Just my new styling bag for the bowling alley, sure beats a beat-up backpack
Here's another shot. The glitter is hot pink in real life, but the purple in the picture looks good too! I'm really pleased with the attached name tag. I think it's cute. This is part of the original. One side said the brand name and the other side has spots for writing your name and phone number (in case of it getting lost, I presume? Or to identify who's is who's in a sea of bags at a bowling alley?)

This is what it looked like when I found it at my local thrift shop.Kinda cool in it's retro-ness, but not quiet as awesome as it could be. (Fancy filters make it look cooler than it really was. trust me)
Before

I sprayed 2 coats of gold spray paint. I sprayed the handles and everything, even the zipper.

I really liked the original design with the stripes. I thought about paint for a bit, but decided... Glitter it is!!

For the glitter:
This is how I did it: Watered down glue (more glue than water, this is your DIY Modge Podge. Thank you Pinterest!), mixed in some glitter, painted it on. Looked too thin so sprinkled on tons more glitter while it was wet. After it dried, painted on a 2nd coat of the glitter glue which seals everything up. No random glitter evidence falling from this baby!

Items used:
White glue from personal stash
Hot Pink(Magenta) glitter from Hobby Lobby (personal stash)
Elf foundation brush (personal stash)
Bowling Bag ($4, Deseret Industries)
Total spent = $4.

You're probably wondering why I need a bowling bag in the first place, aren't you? Well, it holds the bronze swirl bowling ball I got years ago for a steal ($1.99!) and the perfect sized bowling shoes ($3!) I found as well. I love myself some thrift store shopping! Of course I can't bowl worth a dang. The last time I went I scored 110, and that was both games combined!  But now, when I do go, I'll have a fancy new bag to hold all my stuff!

Another shot of the bag. It's pretty cool in person. Not quite finished yet, but almost there. I think it needs just a little bit more to be perfect. Any ideas? Monogram  in the middle? sculls? Something black??
Well, while we both ponder, I'm off to enjoy a nice cold glass of Dr Pepper!
'Night everybody!
Hugs!
Caroline

Here's a silly picture of my niece photo bombing the photo shoot! I think she's way excited to go bowling, don't you? :)

Taco Tuesday!

Welcome back friends! Guess what today is? Taco Tuesday!
Yes, we've decided in our house that Tuesday is designated Taco Salad night, we love it that much.
What's the deal with Taco Salad you ask? Well, let me tell you. It's just the best stuff ever! Plus, it's way easy.
Of course we ate it before thinking about taking pictures, and I don't think a shot of my empty plate would convey the tastiness of it all.
So.. I found this recipe and picture. It's pretty much how we do ours, but of course ours is better :)

The basic recipe can be found here.  We switched it up a bit to suit us. We use ground turkey and add in a can of red beans with the taco seasoning. Some people serve this salad all mixed up in one big bowl. That's too messy for me. I'd rather have a buffet style/build your own taco salad station, with all the ingredients available to add in as you wish. (I try to avoid olives, yuck, while others ~Aimee~ can eat the entire can, she loves them so much)
Of course the magic ingredient is Doritos. I like to take a big handful and smash them on the plate first (or big bowl. Does that count as piggy when it's a "salad"??) then load on all the lettuce, meat and toppings. Followed with Catalina dressing, the 2nd magic ingredient. I don't eat Catalina regularly on a salad, but somehow, it's the perfect thing mixed with the Doritos.. Dang! This is making me hungry! Even though I just had some! Seriously, it's that tasty. You gotta try it.

So..Does your family have a version of Taco Salad? Do you have Taco Tuesday, or another rhyming food day? Let me know. I'm currently thinking about something like Around the World Wednesday or New Recipe Day to actually try some of the million recipes I've pinned on Pinterest.
Join in! Or comment on facebook. I've love to hear your ideas.
Hugs!

It's been a while since I've shared anything, huh?
Well, as you know, my fabulous niece Aimee moved in with me, and we've been busy playing tourist and seeing all sorts of shows on the Las Vegas Strip. We've done all sorts of fun things I've been meaning to share, but haven't gotten around to posting. Fun! So stay tuned!  :)
