Thank you church yard sale, for the awesome-est 70's table ever! (and Thank You, random stranger, for donating it!)
I'm so glad I bought this. Best $10 ever! Doesn't this just scream macrame, lava lamps and kaftans? I'm really digging the original avocado green color. The base really is green too, not dirt colored. I took this picture before cleaning off all the grime. Sorry about that.
For a minute there, I thought about painting it. You know, do a furniture makeover, like everyone seems to be doing. I was thinking something like orange, hot pink, or even turquoise, but nope, avocado still wins. Why mess with the original 70's color?
Do you know what would this calls for?
A giant, tacky, hand carved candle, in orange, smack in the middle of the table! Can't you just see it!?!
I thought I'd be scrounging thrift stores for years, looking for one of these, but guess what? I just found out these candles are all over Etsy and ebay, currently being produced by lots of people, all over the world. I guess there's a bigger market for this stuff than I thought.
Some of them are really good looking (or are they so ugly I love them??)
Seriously, the more I look at this, the more I really like it. The close up details are beautiful. Gotta admire the hard work and skill to make this. Definitely not a DIY! I might just have to break down and get one. (My birthday is in September, in case you were wondering) :))
May all your dreams be as tranquil as staring into a lava lamp.....
Caroline
